Trade and Industry Minister, Senator the Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon congratulates all businesses that were recognized by the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce at its annual Champions of Business Awards 2022 held on 24 November 2022. The Awards capture a spectrum of achievements by businesses across a holistic range of criteria encompassing creativity, innovation, tech development, sustainability, internationalization and life legacy.

The Trade and Industry Minister recognizes the nominees, finalists and award recipients in each of the five categories of winners at the gala function themed: “Leadership and Legacy”. For exceptional business performance during 2022, congratulations are extended to Kamri Investments Limited for capturing the Breakthrough Exporter of the Year Award; Air Links Communications Limited for copping the Business Technology Award; De Novo Energy Limited for winning the Green Agenda Award; A&J’s Homemade Ice Cream Co. Ltd. for being presented with the Entrepreneurship Award; and K.C. Confectionary Limited for receiving the coveted title of Internationally Known…T&T Owned Company of the Year 2022.

It is noted that all the award recipients have made sterling contributions to the business and commercial landscape in the country in 2022. These Champions of Business have contributed to an increase in revenues, expanded export values, penetrated new export markets and developed new and innovative products.

Special commendation is also extended to the two stalwarts that were inducted into the Chamber’s Hall of Fame: Dr. Langston Roach and Mr. Nicholas Galt. Dr. Roach’s economic contribution began through entrepreneurship and mushroomed over the years into the establishment of Langston Roach Industries (LRI), which encompass a wide range of services, inclusive of manufacturing household items, providing investment services and automotive sales. LRI currently exports to countries throughout the Caribbean such as Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Suriname.

Mr. Nicholas Galt is the founder of Trinidad Systems Ltd (TSL), which began in 1979 and is the parent company of the TSL Group of Companies with operations over a diverse scope of service sectors. The Company is now a regional leader in the ICT services arena, employing over 250 people. Mr. Galt also shares his knowledge and expertise through membership on various international Boards such as the Caribbean Science Foundation of Florida and the Pan American Development Foundation.

Minister Gopee-Scoon acknowledges the Chamber for its invaluable and ongoing role in recognizing and rewarding the private sector’s success at its annual awards ceremony which was introduced in 2005 to acknowledge businesses that have excelled in Trinidad and Tobago. The Trade and Industry Minister is confident that many will emulate the success of these awardees and continue to contribute towards the building of a robust entrepreneurial eco-system in Trinidad and Tobago.
