Senator the Honourable Satyakama Maharaj, Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism, along with Dr. Colin Neil Gosine, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry, today met with Ms. Ana Suero Santana, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Port of Spain, at the Ministry’s Port of Spain headquarters.
This marked the first official meeting between Minister Maharaj, Dr. Gosine, and Ms. Santana, and focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Trinidad and Tobago and the Dominican Republic.
During their discussions Minister Maharaj, Dr. Gosine, and Ms. Santana, explored several opportunities for collaboration between both countries such as enhancing air connectivity, increasing trade in agricultural products, sharing best practices in tourism and hospitality, and promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both countries to deepening bilateral cooperation and unlocking new avenues for economic and cultural exchange. Both parties agreed to continue dialogue as the coming months as they work toward mutually beneficial outcomes.
Also in attendance at the meeting were Mr. Randall Karim, Permanent Secretary (Ag.) in the Ministry; Ms. Ava Mahabir-Dass, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.) in the Ministry; and Ms. Kaanita Shah, Programme Coordinator for the Trade Directorate in the Ministry.
