DevelopTT’s approving agencies receive ICT equipment

The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Development (MPD) is upgrading the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure of approving agencies currently under the Automation of the Construction Permitting System (ACPS), branded DevelopTT. Launched in March 2020, DevelopTT is an online portal which facilitates the electronic submission and processing of applications for all major statutory planning permissions and building approvals. It is designed to facilitate electronic processing of applications by   twenty-nine (29) other government agencies (OGAs) across ten (10) Ministries together with the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).

The acquisition of the equipment was based on an ICT Needs Assessment and will contribute to facilitating optimal efficiency in the processing of the various property development approvals on the DevelopTT platform. A total of seventy (70) desktops, eighteen (18) wall monitors, and fifty eight (58) tablets, inclusive of data SIM cards and protective cases are currently being distributed to the approving agencies. The equipment will be utilized by officers assigned to the DevelopTT platform and will allow approving agencies to easily access applications, review development plans, interact with applicants and conduct field inspections electronically.   It is expected that the improvement in technological capacity of the approving agencies will significantly increase efficiency and allow for faster decision making.

The following agencies across Trinidad and Tobago will benefit from the upgrade of its ICT infrastructure: Office of the Commissioner of State Lands, Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries; all County Medical Officers of Health (CMOH) and Public Health Tobago, Ministry of Health; Fire Services, Ministry of National Security; Town and Country Planning Division, MPD; Construction, Drainage, Highways and Traffic Management Divisions, Ministry of Works and Transport; Division of Infrastructure, Quarries and the Environment along with the Environment Department, THA; Environmental Management Authority; Historical Restoration Unit; National Trust; Occupation Safety and Health Agency and fourteen (14) Municipal Corporations.

This ICT upgrade is another milestone of the DevelopTT platform which is aligned to the Government’s digital transformation agenda to provide Government services online to its users in an effort to improve the ease of doing business in Trinidad and Tobago.
