The Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism hereby advises all stakeholders in the scrap metal industry that Legal Notice No. 381 of 2025, the Scrap Metal (Extension of Time) (No. 2) Order, 2025, expired on 14th October, 2026.
Stakeholders are reminded that the Scrap Metal Act, 2022 is therefore effective and its applicable Regulations may result in the enforcement of the relevant statutory penalties and fines. The Ministry, in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), will work closely to monitor compliance and ensure the effective enforcement of the law.
Further notice to all stakeholders will be issued once a subsequent Legal Notice has come into effect. Stakeholders are advised to monitor official Ministry communications for further updates.
