Senator the Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Trade and Industry, congratulated Amerijet International on the opening of its Shared Services Center (SSC) in Port of Spain. Minister Gopee-Scoon delivered remarks commemorating the occasion indicating that
“Amerijet’s decision to establish this shared services center in Trinidad and Tobago is further indicative of the potential of our trade in services, which this Government has earmarked for growth”.
The Minister commended the company on its decision to diversify in Trinidad and Tobago, and to tap into the country’s nearshoring investment opportunities. The Minister cited that the Government is committed to offering possibilities for investors such as Amerijet through the near-completion of the Special Economic Zones regime. This new SSC demonstrates Amerijet’s confidence in the national economy and its dedication to development, as well as Trinidad and Tobago’s attractiveness as an investment destination.
The new center will support internal accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, financial accounting, business intelligence, procurement, project management, revenue accounting, and customer service, which are currently provided from its Miami, Florida, United States hub. With an investment value of TT$13.5 million, the new SSC has a space capacity of 5,676 square feet and will initially employ 25 people, followed by 50 more jobs in the near future.
Her Excellency Candace Bond, United States Ambassador to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, was also in attendance to celebrated Amerijet’s formal launch and applauded the company in its effort to provide a concrete example of the economic ties between Trinidad and Tobago, and the United States. Mr. Joe Mozzali, the Chief Financial Officer of Amerijet delivered the featured address and remarked that a service center hub in Trinidad and Tobago was an obvious choice owing to the country’s “highly motivated, educated and skilled workforce, and strategic location”.
Also in attendance were His Worship, Joel Martinez, Mayor of Port of Spain; Simon Pantin, Head of Global Account Program Development, Amerijet; Mr. John Hagan, Director of Revenue Accounting, Amerijet; Mr. Richard Young, Chairman, Trinidad and Tobago International Financial Centre; Mr. Nirad Tewarie, Chief Executive Officer, American Chamber of Commerce; along with other key stakeholders and Amerijet Executives.
