The Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism convened a series of high-level stakeholder engagements during the period May 19th-22nd.

On May 22nd, Senator the Honourable Satyakama Maharaj, Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism, Dr. Colin Neil Gosine MP, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry, and Mr. Randall Karim, Permanent Secretary (Ag.) met with representatives of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce (TTCIC).

The TTCIC’s delegation included its President, Ms. Sonji Pierre-Chase; Senior Vice President, Ms. Karen Yip Chuck; Vice President, Dr. Christian Stone and Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Vashti Guyadeen.

Ms. Pierre-Chase acknowledged the Ministry’s vital role in advancing the nation’s economic development, and expressed the Chamber’s commitment to continue collaboration with the Ministry through initiatives aimed at supporting Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and advancing economic diversification.

Earlier in the week, the Minister and Parliamentary Secretary also held meetings with the American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (AMCHAM T&T), the Trinidad and Tobago Incoming Tour Operators Association (TTITOA), the Confederation of Regional Business Chambers, and the Couva-Point Lisas Chamber of Commerce.  Discussions focused on trade facilitation, digital competitiveness, tourism development, and enhancing Trinidad and Tobago’s visibility in regional and international markets.

During these discussions, Minister Maharaj reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to regular and structured consultations with stakeholders across all sectors as he underscored the point that inclusive economic growth depended on strong partnerships and responsive policymaking. He also reiterated the Ministry’s focus on building an agile, investor-friendly ecosystem and welcomed real-time feedback from the business community.

These engagements are part of the Ministry’s broader effort to align policy with national development priorities, and to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors. In the coming weeks, consultations will continue with stakeholders from the manufacturing, services, creative and tourism sectors, as the Ministry works to maintain an enabling environment for business, investment, and economic growth.
