The Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism welcomed His Excellency Michael Callan, High Commissioner for Canada to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, during a courtesy call at the Ministry’s head office in Port of Spain.
High Commissioner Callan, accompanied by Ms. Sylvie Bédard, Director General for Central America and the Caribbean, Global Affairs Canada, Mr. Stuart Shaw, Counsellor, Political & Public Affairs and Ms. Michaeline Narcisse, Trade Commissioner, was received by Senator the Honourable Satyakama Maharaj, Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism, along with Dr. Colin Neil Gosine, MP, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry; Ms. Reita Toussaint, Permanent Secretary; and Ms. Ava Mahabir-Dass, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.).
Discussions during the meeting focused on the Government’s ongoing efforts to further diversify the national economy, with emphasis on trade and investment.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both countries to further deepening bilateral cooperation and unlocking new avenues for economic and cultural exchange. Both parties agreed to continue dialogue as they work toward mutually beneficial outcomes.
The Ministry remains dedicated to strengthening international partnerships that drive investment, support economic diversification, and align with Trinidad and Tobago’s national development agenda.
