PROJECT AND FACILITIES MANAGEMENT UNIT

The Project and Facilities Management Unit (PFMU) of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts (MTCA) plays a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of tourism infrastructure and facilities within Trinidad. Its primary purpose is to oversee and manage projects, maintenance and operations related to tourism development, with the aim of expanding the tourism industry. The PFMU provides oversight to eleven (11) main sites and attractions:

  1. Maracas Beach Facility
  2. Las Cuevas Beach Facility
  3. Manzanilla Beach Facility
  4. Vessigny Beach Facility
  5. La Vigie Paramin Lookout
  6. Fort George
  7. River Estate Waterwheel and Museum
  8. Fort Picton
  9. Lopinot Historical Complex
  10. Galera Point Lighthouse Facility
  11. La Brea Pitch Lake Facility

Additionally, the PFMU is tasked with providing support in the development of the following sites:

  1. Ariapita Avenue Enhancement
  2. Desperadoes Pan Theatre
  3. Los Iros Volcanic Park
  4.  Las Lapas Lookout Facility
  5. Fort Abercromby
  6. National Museum and Art Gallery
  7. Sevilla House Sugar Museum
  8. Fort San Andres
  9. National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA)
  10. Stollmeyer’s Castle
  11. Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA)
  12. Naparima Bowl
  13. Queen’s Hall

Subsequently, the PFMU is also responsible for the development of the tourism sector which relates to the maintenance, management and control of the aforementioned sites. Thus, any event or activity which surrounds the use of the facility must be guided by the Ministry’s rental policy and guidelines for each facility and the rental rates for tourism facility.
