14th November 2018: Objectives of the country’s trade agenda were advanced with two trading partners at meetings hosted by Trade and Industry Minister, Senator the Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon and senior Ministry staff in Port of Spain on the fringes of the tenth meeting of Red VUCE (trade single windows).

Senator Gopee-Scoon, held strategic meetings with Ms Laura Valdivieso, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Colombia and Mr. Duayner Salas,Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Costa Rica today to discuss matters related to strengthening trade relations and advancing matters related to investment, trade international governance arrangements and areas for collaboration; while Permanent Secretary Mr Norris Herbert met with World Customs Organisation Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya.

The Vice Ministers are attending Red VUCE, a two day conference which commenced on Tuesday 13 November, 2018, intended to enhance international trade through dialogue and information being hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank and Ministry of Trade and Industry. This annual meeting seeks to create a space for dialogue among countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, where experiences and best practices are exchanged and opportunities for collaboration explored in the area of trade and transport facilitation. This includes single window environments, such as Trinidad and Tobago’s TTBizLink, which facilitates trade and business processes.
