The Ministry of Trade and Industry will continue to provide the necessary support and facilitative services to local and regional businesses, while simultaneously enhancing initiatives and implementing measures to further incentivize investments.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mr. Randall Karim, made this statement while delivering remarks at the official launch ceremony of Think Grow Lead (TGL) Group Limited in Trinidad and Tobago, on February 29, 2024, at the HYATT Regency Hotel, Port of Spain. The launch signified the establishment of the Jamaican-based company’s first regional office and the expansion of its business operations to Trinidad and Tobago. The company diagnoses and provides solutions for sales-force and customer service to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and organizations.

During his remarks, Mr. Karim congratulated the company on their investment in the Trinidad and Tobago which is indicative of their confidence in the local economy, and signals Trinidad and Tobago as a viable option for service providers operating within the Caribbean. Adding that the launch was also a significant step towards fostering regional integration and development, he stated, “This solid business move aligns with the principles of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), demonstrating the shared success and collaboration that define our Caribbean community.”

Mr. Karim also acknowledged TGL’s contribution to the service trade between Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica over the past four years. He said, “The company has been exporting its services from Jamaica, meeting the business solution needs of local SMEs and other organizations. It is therefore a remarkable journey of growth and strategic expansion for this company; transitioning from a service exporter to becoming a source of investment in the Trinidad and Tobago economy.” Services trading between Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica predominantly comprise business services, including professional management consulting services.

The Permanent Secretary also highlighted the strong economic relations between Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica, particularly in merchandise and services. Recent trade statistics underscore Jamaica’s consistent position as a significant trading partner for Trinidad and Tobago.

Also delivering remarks at the launch was Mr. Duane Lue-Fung, Executive Chairman, TGL who expressed confidence that the company’s services would add value to the business sector, not only in Trinidad and Tobago but also the wider Caribbean.
