The Honourable Paula Gopee Scoon, Minister of Trade and Industry, on April 09, 2025 joined with representatives of Carenet Industries to open its first Caribbean office in Port of Spain at a ribbon cutting event at the company’s offices at Albion Plaza. This investment valued at US$8.3 Million or approximately TT$55.2 million is testimony to the government’s continued efforts of expanding the non-energy sector of the economy. Carenet Health TT is the first company to receive approval for a Single Zone Enterprise License in December 2014.

Speaking at the opening, Minister Gopee-Scoon, congratulated the company for choosing Trinidad and Tobago to established its offices. “As a nearshoring location, Trinidad and Tobago is ideally located with geographic proximity to the North and South American markets”. She further stated that “in July 2024, Trinidad and Tobago was ranked the 5th Top Value Destination for Business Process Outsourcing within Latin America and the Caribbean region”. This she stated points to our strong digital infrastructure, that can facilitate work from home models, whilst providing access to reliable power and utility systems.

The company’s Port of Spain office is expected to employ an initial 250 agents with plans to expand to 750 agents within twelve (12) months.  At yesterday’s launch event Carenet also announced that it was actively looking at expansion of their operations and are currently reviewing accommodations in the Trincity and San Fernando.

In addition to hiring nationals to handle inbound and outbound calls, the company will also offer roles such as heath advisors, human resources advisors, information technology personnel, accounting among many more.

The growth of the Business Service Organisations (BPO) sector has been consistent over the past 10 years, with investments rising form TT$33.7 million in 2015 to over TT$298 million by 2025. This industry now boasts of 13 BPOs operating in Trinidad and Tobago, 10 of which are foreign investors providing over 3,500 jobs.
