05th November 2018: Trade and Industry Minister Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon and a delegation from Trinidad and Tobago this morning participated in the First China International Import Exposition (CIIE) in Shanghai, China. The  CIIE was co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government with the support of the World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

As part of the CIIE, products from Trinidad and Tobago’s leading and emerging manufacturers were displayed in a Joint Trinidad and Tobago/CARICOM Pavilion which will be visited by over 300,000 international buyers attending the event during the period 05-10 November 2018.

Minister Gopee-Scoon’s visit to Shanghai followed on a visit to Beijing to participate in the 3rd China Building Materials Enterprises “Go Global” Conference where she delivered a presentation on “Investment Opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago”.  In Beijing, Minister Gopee-Scoon held several bilateral meeting with potential foreign investors at the proposed Phoenix Park Industrial Estate.

The Minister is accompanied by His Excellency Stephen Seedansingh Jr, Ambassador of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the People’s Republic of China; Mr. Ashmeer Mohamed, Chairman of exporTT and Mr. Randall Karim, Director, Evolving Tecknologies and Enterprise Development Company (eTecK) Limited.
