Senator the Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Trade and Industry, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Jon Dean, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, today, Wednesday, 29 January, 2025, at the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s Head Office, Port of Spain.

This meeting facilitated the introduction of His Excellency Jon Dean, who assumed his role as High Commissioner in December 2024, succeeding Her Excellency Harriet Cross.

During their discussions, Minister Gopee-Scoon and High Commissioner Dean explored potential initiatives for deepening trade and investment collaboration between Trinidad and Tobago and the United Kingdom.

In 2023, Trinidad and Tobago further strengthened its relationship with the UK by appointing a Commercial Officer in London, tasked with expanding non-energy exports and attracting investment.

Also, in attendance at the meeting were Ms. Giselle Roberts, Country Director in the UK Government’s Department of Business and Trade, Mr. Randall Karim, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mrs. Ava Mahabir-Dass, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and other Officials from the Ministry.
